GenSpark is a program dedicated to providing technical training and career support to individuals looking to make the next move in their career. Not only do we want everyone that comes through our program to succeed, but we’re also on a mission to accelerate equity in the workplace, as it relates to the IT industry.
To achieve that, we provide candidates with paid 6-to-12-week training in over 20+ skillsets. After training is complete, GenSparkers become employees of GenSpark and we connect those individuals with jobs from our network of clients. That all sounds too good to be true so, is it?
Thankfully, it’s not too good to be true! But as with any business, in order to stay in business and continue to do good, we need to avoid taking on too much cost that we can’t write checks for. That’s why we have a training agreement with our candidates in place that protects you as an individual and us as a business.
We agree to uphold our end of the commitment by providing paid technical and soft skill training as well as job placement and relocation support. You uphold your end by agreeing to see our program through until the end. This may sound simple, but we value transparency so let’s dive deeper and dissect this agreement together. We Invest in Every GenSparker!
We get that signing any legal contract can be a bit scary, but we want you to know that you’re not the only one entering into an agreement. We’re with you every step of the way, starting with our commitment to invest in you upfront.
GenSpark invests in you upfront, so that you don’t have to make a huge investment to gain new skills. Initially, we invest roughly $20K in every individual that comes through our program, which (financially) puts us in the negative starting off. But we’re okay with that! We intentionally don’t make any money until you start your career and begin to earn.
You’re probably thinking that “$20k is a lot of money,” and we agree, it is. But let’s look at what all that covers. During your first 6-to-12 weeks, not only does GenSpark pay you a weekly stipend, but on top of that we also pay for:
- Trainer Costs
- Training Infrastructure Costs
- License Costs
- Virtual Machines
- Certification Fees
- Relocation Costs (if applicable)
- Bi-weekly hourly pay while you’re waiting for client assignment (bench)
- Medical, dental, and vision benefits once you’re a W2 employee
As you can see, we invest a lot in every individual. And it’s worth it because we’re truly committed to ensuring every individual that comes through our program receives the best in-class training. So again, is this too good to be true? Not at all!
We agree to invest in you, and by signing up for our program you either agree to complete the GenSpark program or pay back a portion of our initial investment in the event you cannot complete the agreed upon conditions.
How do I Uphold My End of the Bargain?
On average 95% percent of individuals that enter the GenSpark program never have to repay our initial investment. Sounds good right? Well, it is! If you uphold the basic conditions of the agreement, you’ll never have to pay us a dime, and that’s just how we like it!
To avoid repaying our initial investment, you’ll agree to uphold your part of the commitment, which includes completing your technical training and afterwards, working with GenSpark for up to 18 months after your training period ends.
To offer some comfort, we allow a one-week trial period. During this time, individuals can meet the instructors, and get a feel for the workload. If it’s not for you then that’s okay! If you leave before the one week is up, you’ll never owe GenSpark anything.
Lastly, if a client decides to hire you as an employee prior to the completion of your term with GenSpark, then again, you don’t owe us anything.
At GenSpark, we pride ourselves on providing industry specific training, and ensuring that every individual leaves with in-demand skills and a full-time career. To recap if an individual meets these conditions:
- You work with GenSpark for up to 18 months after your training ends
- You leave GenSpark during the trial period (first week of training)
- You get directly hired by the GenSpark client you’re working for
Then you’ll never have to pay GenSpark a penny. We don’t want you to feel locked in a contract because that’s not our goal. Our goal is to get you trained and working in the IT industry as soon as possible!
But What if GenSpark Terminates Me?
We hate to terminate anyone that comes through our program, and thankfully we rarely have too. GenSpark currently has a 75% graduation rate, and we plan to keep it that way! We’d love to guarantee every individual a job, and most times, we can. But things happen, even at GenSpark.
On rare occasions clients may fail to hire from our pool of candidates. Or sometimes, even with our help, candidates can’t pass the interview stage. When situations like these occur, we try our best to explore all options before terminating an individual. However, if we’re forced to terminate an individual then that person doesn’t owe us anything. Zip. Nada. Zero. That’s it.
We take our mission to close the talent gap by upskilling diverse talent seriously. And if we can’t find a position for you, we still want you to excel. Therefore, regardless if you’re placed or not, the money and training is yours to keep.
That’s the beauty of relying on GenSpark, there’s no risk or upfront cost to you! So don’t wait! Take a chance on your future by letting GenSpark invest in you! Spark your future by applying today!
